Alberson finishes 12th in Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson at Wheatland

With Mother Nature shifting Thursday’s opener to Friday afternoon, Garrett Alberson kicked off his Memorial Day weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday for the Cowboy Classic. Drawing 58 Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil MLRA, Garrett posted a seventh-place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Locking in the Top 2, Alberson fell short with a fourth-place outing.

Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Alberson followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with a 10-lap consolation victory. Starting the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature in 20th, Garrett marched forward eight spots in the 40-lapper to finish 12th. (Heath Lawson photo)

After coming one spot shy of a transfer position in his B-Main on Saturday with a third-place finish, Garrett was granted a Lucas Oil MLRA provisional into the $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100. Rolling off 27th, Alberson improved eight spots in the 100-lap affair to register a 19th-place outing.
